Anxiety & Depression

Wondering When the Next Shoe Will Drop?

Feeling like you can’t enjoy the moment for fear that it will be taken away from you?

After all, why hope for good things to happen when something bad might happen instead.

Fear. You may have heard it described as False Evidence Appearing Real.

We become anxious and our thoughts run rampant while we get carried away with panic, worry, nausea, and pounding hearts. It feels very real.

And at the root of every anxious thought lies a fear.

Fretful, Distrustful, Impulsive, and Controlling

Anxiety robs us of the experience of present moment living. Instead, we attempt to control our future in order to prevent the recurrence of painful past experiences.

And when we relive those painful past experiences, we’re prone to feelings of unworthiness, helplessness, and sometimes hopelessness.

We take a nosedive in a downward spiral.

We Feel Trapped

Trapped in endless cycles of anxiety over family, work, money, health, the economy, and other issues.

Obsessive worrying and catastrophizing thoughts can quickly flood us with feelings of panic, guilt, and shame that leave us disengaged from our own lives.

The impact of anxiety on our life, and those we love, can be devastating.

You are not alone.

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, nearly 40 million Americans (about 18%) suffer from an anxiety related disorder each year.

There is Hope

Anxiety is treatable. Counseling can help.

I’ll help you find balance in your life and teach you to self-regulate your emotions. Emotions or feelings aren’t “bad.” It’s what we do with them that matters.

You’ll learn that there are benefits and impairments to emotions and how you can articulate what you need when you experience emotions. All you need is a little guidance and a nonjudgmental, safe place to share what you’re experiencing and an open-minded ear to listen.

I oftentimes utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) grounding techniques and am EMDR Certified in this modality.
